Possibly more than a dozen tornadoes ripped through the Dallas Fort Worth metro area, flattening buildings, tossing cars and trucks, and shutting down airports in the region. Nine separate tornado warnings were issued by weather services in the Dallas area, with 2 confirmed touch-downs, one in Arlington and another in Dallas.

At Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport all planes were grounded during the storm. More than 110 aircraft were damaged by hail, 400 departures were canceled and incoming flights were diverted.

No deaths or serious injures were reported, according to police, but not all damaged neighborhoods had been investigated. Homes and businesses in at least seven counties were hit hard.

The American Red Cross has launched a response, setting up two shelters in the Dallas area providing information,  food, and shelter to affected residents.
